A HISTOPATHOLOGIC STUDY OF THE SKIN NEVI

Abstract
A histopathologic study has been performed for 285 cases of skin nevi which were obtained from the pathology file, department of pathology, college of medicine, Kyung Hee University Hospital, during a period of 11 years begining from October, 1975 to October 1986. The results were summarized as follows;

1) Melanocytic nevi was the most common skin nevi.

2) Melanocytic nevi were consisted of 88 cases of intradermal and 28 cases of compound nevi.

3) Mean age of compound, intradermal and neural nevi were 15,27.7 and 31 years respectively.

4) Most skin nevi were prevalent in female.

5) Most skin nevi were most frequently observed in the 2nd & 3rd decade.

6) Melanocytic nevi, epidermal nevi and nevus flammeus are present in childhood under 10 years.

7) The most common predilection site was face, especially cheek and eyelid.

8) The skin nevi frequently observed;

in the face: melanocytic nevi, Ota nevus, nevus sebaceus, nevus flammeus

in the scalp: epidermal nevus, nevus sebaceus
